YourBeats copyright and takedowns
Effective date: 30 October 2026
Last updated: 30 October 2026
This page is for rights holders, and for players whose content was removed. It adds to section 13 of our terms of use.
The short version
- The music videos are on YouTube. They play in YouTube's own player and are never copied to phones.
- Charts hold timings, not music: a video's ID and note timings, never the song's audio or lyrics.
- Rights holders, email support@yourbeats.net (section 3). A person reviews every notice.
- Players can reply if they think something was removed by mistake (section 5).

1. What YourBeats hosts, and what it does not
- The music videos. Every song from YouTube plays in YouTube's own player, and the app never downloads a video to a phone.
- Charts. A chart holds a YouTube video's ID and note timings, never the song's audio or lyrics. We make charts for our catalogue and for the songs players add.
- What players add and make. Players choose the YouTube videos they add as songs, make charts, and write handles, room names, rating notes and, in some rooms, typed messages.
- The YourBeats Originals are our own songs.
- A player's own copy. A player can play a song from a music file on their phone, which YourBeats never copies or uploads.
2. Videos on YouTube
The songs and videos belong to their owners and play through YouTube, under YouTube's terms. To remove a video from YouTube, use YouTube's copyright process. When YouTube removes a video, or stops it playing in other apps, the songs that use it stop playing in YourBeats too, except from a player's own copy.
We can also take a song out of YourBeats, with our charts for it and its listing, when a rights holder asks (section 3).
3. If you are a rights holder: send us a notice
We handle notices under UK law and the EU's Digital Services Act. If you believe something on YourBeats infringes your copyright or another right, email support@yourbeats.net with "Copyright notice" in the subject, and include:
- your full name, postal address and email address, and whom you act for, if anyone;
- the work, such as a song, a recording or a chart made for another game;
- exactly where it is: a chart's address (yourbeats.net/ch/...), a song's (yourbeats.net/song/...), a handle or a room code; without a link, the song's title and artist, or the address of its YouTube video;
- why it infringes, and which right you rely on (for example copyright in a recording);
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised;
- a statement that the information is accurate, and that you own the rights or may act for their owner;
- your signature: a typed full name will do.
4. What happens next
- We confirm that we have it. We reply to say that we have your notice.
- A person decides. Someone on our team reviews every notice promptly, and no automated tool decides. We may remove or disable the material while we look.
- You hear our decision. We tell you what we decided and why, without undue delay, and how to challenge it.
- The player hears too. We tell the player concerned where we can, and they may reply (section 5). A chart's creator is told in the app; for anything else, the player can write to support@yourbeats.net to be told why. We say what we removed and why, that it followed a notice, and how to reply.
- Repeat infringers. We close the accounts of players who repeatedly infringe other people's rights, where that is appropriate.
- Honest notices. Please send notices only for rights you own or act for: a false or misleading notice can have legal consequences.
5. If your chart, song or name was removed
Do you think something of yours was removed by mistake, or that you have the right to use it? Write to support@yourbeats.net with "Reply to a notice" in the subject, and include:
- your name, email address and handle;
- what was removed, and where it was;
- why it was a mistake, or why you may use it (for example the rights holder's permission);
- a statement that you believe this in good faith, and that what you say is accurate;
- your signature: a typed full name will do.
If we agree with you, we put back what we removed, where we can.
A chart's creator can also appeal in the app within 14 days, and a person looks at it again. Players under 18 can ask a parent or another adult they trust to help them write.
6. Charts copied from other games
Charts copied from other games are not allowed (section 8 of our terms). Inside YourBeats, a chart built on another player's chart credits them automatically. If a chart you made for another game has been copied here, tell us as section 3 says, with where your original is published. Players can also report a chart from its sheet in the app.
7. Trade marks and impersonation
Names on YourBeats must not pretend to be someone else, such as an artist, a label or a brand, or break anyone's rights (section 5 of our terms). If a name uses your trade mark or pretends to be you, send a notice as section 3 says. Put "Trade mark notice" in the subject, and include proof that the name is yours. Players can also report a player from their profile's menu.
8. Licensing enquiries
To talk about your music in YourBeats, write to support@yourbeats.net with "Licensing" in the subject.
